On Saturday, June 5th the Wisconsin Rapids Kiwanis Club held their 4th annual Kiwanis Youth Outdoors Day. The event is targeted at encouraging area youth and their families to stay active through outdoor sporting activities.
More than 165 children and their parents, aunts, uncles, grandparents or neighbors joined us for a day of fun away from their computers, televisions, and video games. Activities included 16 stations ranging from archery and canoeing to fishing and shooting sports, kite flying, first-aid, and more.
Thank you to the 13 Kiwanis members, 29 individuals from other local organizations or local chapters of national organizations. Without their selflessness and giving of their time and talents this event would not be possible.
I would be remiss without a sincere thank you to the 12 area businesses who contributed both monetarily and through in-kind donations in support of the event. With their support, and the support of the Wisconsin Rapids Kiwanis Foundation, we are able to provide this unique opportunity free of charge to the youth and families of our area.
Based on the stories shared with our volunteers by repeat attendees, we know that this event is making a positive impact in the youth of our community.
For those who joined us this year, we would love hear from you and hear your account of the event. We would also enjoy sharing in any photos you may have taken.
