Wisconsin Rapids Kiwanis Club past President Herb Brostrom presents a certificate April 18 for Student of the Month to Nekoosa High School senior Hunter Smith.
Hunter Smith was honored April 18 as the Wisconsin Rapids Kiwanis Club Youth of the Month. With a passion for outdoors activities, the Nekoosa High School senior plans on attending University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point to study wildlife management and natural resources.
Smith is active in the school’s cross country program and is part of the track team, and lives with his parents, Les and Lisa, and brother Sawyer and sister Gabrielle.
The Kiwanis Club, which is dedicated to serving the youth of the community, honors an outstanding student each month.

Join us at the Nepco Lake shelter from 10AM to 3:00PM on January 21st for a day of fun in the snow.
The event is free to attend and attendees will receive a hot meal and an entry in our door prize giveaway of outdoor equipment.
Activities at this year’s event include:
- cross-country skiing
- snow shoeing
- ice fishing
- curling
- fur trapping
- outdoor photography
- ice skating (learn to skate)
- hockey puck shoot
- bb-guns
All the equipment necessary will be provided free of charge. Take this opportunity to get away from TV and electronics and spend the day with your family enjoying outdoors together.
At 3:00PM the same day, join the River Cities Nordic Ski Club for their chili feed and night ski. Their event helps to raise funds to support the junior nordic ski team in Wisconsin Rapids.
