 September 30th, 2006 - Over the past several years the regional NFL Pass, Punt & Kick qualifier has been organized by John Symonds.We lost John in a skydiving accident this past summer. John was a great asset to our community and a member of both the Wisconsin Rapids Kiwanis and Wisconsin Rapids Optimists clubs. In the spirit of John both clubs have come together to ensure this event continues for many more years.
Nearly 70 boys and girls aging from ages eight to fifteen compete for an opportunity to advance to the sectional event in Edgar, WI. The eight qualifiers advancing from the Wisconsin Rapids regional event now have a chance to go on to the team event at Lambeau field if they win their age bracket in Edgar.
Update: Amanda Gallagher won her age group at the Edgar Sectional and qualified to go on and compete against other sectional winners at Lambeau field. She was introduced along with the other sectional winners before the New England Patriots game on November 26th.
