In keeping with a tradition of over 30 years, the Wisconsin Rapids Kiwanis Club organized a holiday dinner in cooperation with the Wood County Department of Social Services in December. Don Krohn is the Kiwanis chairperson working along with Jodi Knutson of WCDSS to coordinates the event.

In 2006 more than 100 guests enjoyed a Swiss steak dinner, an old time band and a visit by Santa Claus.

“It is always a very special evening for the attendees. For many of them, this is their only social event of the Holiday season, “ Krohn says. “As they left with big smiles on their faces and many sincere thank you’s, it leaves you with a good feeling about our club and the special things we do for the community.”

Kiwanis club members chauffer guests from their homes to their clubhouse in Kellner, Wisconsin. The Lincoln Senior High School Key Club members as well as members from Social Services assisted in making the night something very special.
